You can follow me on Twitter @PrincipalFrench or search #GoodNewsCallOfTheDay to see the daily recipients and read a bit about why they were selected. This past year there were about 150 different educators who used this hashtag and made positive phone calls home.

I was inspired during the summer of 2015 during a Twitter chat when a classroom teacher stated she made one positive phone call home every day. I thought, "I can do that!" For two school years now, I have identified one student each day I am at school to receive the #GoodNewsCallOfTheDay. During the 2015-2016 school year, I made calls for 130 different students. During the 2016-2017 school year, I made calls for 135 different students. This past year, 2017-2018, I made 137 calls. In three years I have made 702 positive phone calls home.

This started as a way for me to share the positive things happening at my school and acknowledge our awesome students. It has turned out to be the best part of my day. Students have been surprised, teachers have been pleased, and parents have been thankful. A couple parents have even cried...but that's a good thing!

A movement created by an elementary school principal to recognize the positive things happening in our schools!
